Electric Palace Backstage Tour 30.07.25

Secrets, history, celebrity stories and ghosts

Fancy a peek behind the plush velvet curtains of a theatrical gem built in 1926?
Intrigued to see how a theatre works and discover its secrets?

In 2026 we celebrate our centenary, so now’s your chance to discover the elaborate inner workings of this iconic venue.

Join us on an exclusive backstage tour where we’ll take you through the history of the beautiful Bridport Electric Palace and share stories of hidden doors, architectural illusions, ghosts and more.

Follow in the footsteps of all the famous comedians, film directors, authors and musicians who have relaxed in our dressings rooms and performed on our stage Bill Bailey, Benjamin Zephaniah, Mike Leigh, Ruby Wax, Ed Gamble, Sara Pascoe, Sir Richard Eyre, Maggie O’Farrell, Michael Rosen, Jason Donovan, Toyah Wilcox, Rankin’ Roger.

Explore this unique grade II listed venue and admire the beautiful Aris Nova murals painted by famed local artist, George Biles. Stand in the spotlight, see principle dressing rooms, sit and admire the view from the VIP circle box.

Here’s your chance to soak up the magical atmosphere of this 1920s gem of a theatre and ask questions as you go along.

These tours have been specially created for all…theatre lovers, history buffs, admirers of fine architecture and anyone curious about ‘where the magic happens’ behind the scenes.

THE TOUR
Each guided tour last approximately 1 hour. We have 15 spaces available per tour.

Because of the age and layout of our theatre, which includes a number of staircases and steps, Backstage Theatre Tours aren’t suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. If you have access needs or questions, please get in touch before your visit via email boxoffice@electricpalace.org.uk

We are a working theatre. This means routes may change and backstage access is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VENUE TOUR AND IS NOT A PERFORMANCE.
